Poetry

Before the advent of writing, when communities sought to pass down stories from generation to generation, they arranged them in a poetic structure that made them memorable, preserved them, and allowed them to be passed on. To this day, the art of writing poetry is constantly evolving, seeking to convey messages, tell grand stories in a few lines, and touch the heart of the reader or listener.

Ella

This poetry book explores a personal and feminine search following figures of Goddesses, warriors, priestesses, and prophetesses, and will walk the middle between the real and the hidden, the visible and the revealed, and all the other things that lie in between.

Ella

Ella seeks redemption.
She wakes up
in the middle of the night
with passion sneaking up all around.
Ella can feel her own skin,
but listen, Ella-
It is early still.

Ella is following the moon tonight.
Ella is climbing on the walls;
Ella is just as real as others
and this time she is not going to fall.
Ella has nothing
but she has it all.
But hey, Ella-
it is early still-
don’t you know?

Ella has dreams tonight
when she is awake and very much asleep-
one day she will name all the dreamers
and she will rule all the nights that might still be.
Ella is a goddess,
Ella is a promise to be-
and Ella,
oh Ella-
it is early still.

Leah Seeks Redemption

Leah Seeks Redemption (Hebrew- ‘Catharsis’ Publishing)

After years of visiting archaeological sites, conducting academic research on symbols, and examining the rituals and beliefs in various Jewish communities, Tal Garmiza noticed that the academic study of mythical and biblical women is much richer than the presence of those women in official writings. Since then, she has sought to explore and deepen her research, both academic and artistic, into mythological women, those women who once held a rightful place in cultural heritage, and over the years have been pushed aside or blatantly erased.

“Leah Seeks Redemption” is a significant and central pillar in the large-scale research project of the poet, creator, and symbol researcher Tal Garmiza, and it presents the fruit of a journey. The exploration within it seeks to ask questions about a past that defines a present, much of which is hidden or has been concealed from us. The book is a point of connection between a woman in the twenty-first century and the foundation of her intellectual culture, which has been shaped over thousands of years.

Dynamics of Movement

If my whole life
is an ever changing dynamics-
movement after movement after movement,
a spiral energy that pushes forward;
Maybe you can be
the solid ground to guide me
in the flowing water that surrounds me
and you will be
a solid anchor
to save me in a wild sea.

If everything exists
only in this moment
and everyone is trying to hold on,
at least we will hold on to each other.
We will walk in unknown paths-
I will navigate
through the misleading desert
and you will be our light in the darkness.
You will stand still when needed
and I will do the same if you ask me.
If a sandstorm might come our way-
you will hold me
and carry me home
and the storm will be gone.

Page Space

In this poetry book, you will meet people, places, emotions – and yourselves.
The poems tell of encounters, doubts along the way, wishes in the heart, what is outside and what is inside.

Tal Garmiza has been writing poems since the day she realized that a story could be told in rhymes, shortly after she learned the letters of the alphabet. Within all the letters and words, poems are hidden, concealed, and folded, yearning to come into the world.

Page Space seeks to give a place to these poems, which wish to be exposed and see the light.

Sometimes

Sometimes
my words leave me
defenceless.
I am exposed
to the naked eye
and I feel naked
Inside.

Sometimes
my words
leave me.
