Dance Repertoire Workshop

When searching for inspiration for a new dance creation, there comes a moment when one must free their thoughts from limitations and ‘what will they say,’ otherwise the creation will never come to be. This is especially true when creating in the wake of powerful mythological figures who led armies, changed the course of history, and influenced the fate of worlds through the stars. You must trust them and dedicate yourself to the process. Creating dance inspired by characters, especially those originating from ancient myths, requires a deep search for the unique movement language of the character.

Many attempts, questions, and searches take place until a story unique to the character emerges and her movement language is created in the work. In a series of exercises that bring together a repertoire of dance works and movement exercises inspired by mythical figures, we will seek a way to create a unique voice that is shared between us and them.

We will embark on a movement journey to discover the stories of characters and the point of intersection between the character’s language of movement and our inner voice, from which a new dance creation will emerge.
