Between the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life – Sacred Trees in the World of Spirit and the World of Matter

“And the Lord God caused to grow out of the ground every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” (Genesis 2:9)

Sacred and wondrous trees can be found almost everywhere in the world, in every culture, in every era. When we travel the paths of the land, we hear legends about trees and plants, promises made by lovers who met in their shade, miraculous wonders, and talking trees.

What is the significance of trees in ancient cultures, and how do we encounter them in the form of the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life in Jewish traditions? How deep are the roots of the trees of life? What can we learn from them and what mythological stories surround them in the ancient East? And does the Shekhinah really wander in the Tree of Life?

We will go out for a discussion where we will hear legends, traditions, and hug trees.
